A man was found dead outside his Conway home after his wife reportedly dragged him from a car and covered him with a blanket.
Officers with the Horry County Police Department responded to Estate Drive in the Conway area on February 2 for a “body call,” according to an HCPD incident report. Upon arriving, officers met with paramedics, who reportedly confirmed the man was dead outside of the home. Officers contacted the wife and step-father, who were also at the scene.
The wife reportedly came home the day before around 6:30 p.m. and saw the victim “unconscious but breathing, hanging out of his vehicle parked in the driveway,” said the report. The wife then reportedly dragged the man out of the truck towards the front door, but “was unable to drag him up the stairs to the porch, so she placed cardboard under the victim and covered him with a blanket where he laid in the front yard.”
The next morning, the wife reportedly came outside, where she found the man dead.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Marty Powell. No official cause of death is available and toxicology results have not been returned yet.
Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler told News13 the coroner’s office can’t rule out the possibility that a medical condition may have played a part in Powell’s death.
