HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Heavy rains all over the Grand Strand caused flooding Friday, including in a Bugress neighborhood that’s had flooding issues for several years.

Cameron Village off South Carolina Highway 707 saw heavy downpours Friday afternoon. Residents there say some roads flood very often and can sometimes take more than a day to drain.

People who live in Cameron Village have asked the county several times over the last few years to improve drainage systems.

One resident we talked to said he isn’t sure if enough has been done.

“Every heavy rain we get, it just seems to happen,” said Mike Manning. “They keep telling us it’s going to get better, but it never does. I think if we ever had a tropical storm or hurricane it could be a huge issue for us.”

More than a year ago, the county did add an outfall at Cameron Village and larger drainage pipes in the retention ponds.
