A power outage has over two thousand people in the dark and has knocked out a traffic light near Socastee, Friday night. 

According to the Santee Cooper outage website, 2,091 people are without power, they say high winds are the cause of the outage. The outage was first reported just before 7 p.m.

The outage has also knocked out the traffic light on US-17 and Palmetto Pointe Boulevard. 

Santee Cooper’s website says crews are working to restore power and estimates that power will be restored at 10 p.m.
