MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- Carolina Country Music Fest is underway in Myrtle Beach, and if you haven’t gotten tickets yet, police and festival organizers are warning about ticket scammers.
Any large event brings ticket scalping and people getting scammed. Myrtle Beach police have taken notes from other large events and have officers in place ready to catch people breaking the law.
“You can not sell the ticket above what face value is and if you’re selling tickets that are fake you will be apprehended and held responsible for doing so,” said Lt. Joey Crosby.
Music fest organizers want to make sure you get reliable last minute tickets.
“It usually comes through ticket fly and says an official CCMF partner or ambassador and if you don’t buy it from them we cant guarantee you entry,” said CCMF organizor Bob Durkin.
Organizers recommend you only buy tickets through the CCMF website, the will call office at ground zero, or from Britain Hotels and Resorts.
“Each wristband has its own specific identity, so we can tell who bought it, where it came from, what credit card, so that’s why they’re not transferable. So if you didn’t buy it through us you may have trouble getting in,” said Durkin.
The same goes if you snag a wristband from someone who’s leaving.
“There are certain ways that people come out of the event and try to sell wristbands that they’ve already had on and people get scammed that way,” said Durkin.
Organizers also warn people to not post pictures of their wristbands on social media because people can see the ticket id number and make a fake.
If you buy tickets from someone and need to pick them up from will call, you must provide a copy of the original buyer’s id, order confirmation, and credit card.
