This February 4 isn’t an ordinary one for one Pawleys Island woman who turned 101 years young today.

Arbor Landing Assisted Living Community’s resident Jean Ogden caught fame as a local celebrity today because she’s now over a century young.

Ogden’s daughter Cindy and her closest friends helped her to bring her 101st year in.

She is originally from Canada, but moved to Florida years ago to start a life in the United States.

Although the end of World War II marks what Ogden thinks is the biggest event of her lifetime, this decade is her favorite because she says a lot is always going on.

Her advice for living is a simple one, if you don’t do anything else, just try.

“Obey everyday rules for living,” said Ogden.

Ogden’s daughter, Cindy Adams says her mother’s 100th birthday celebration last year showed just how great she is.

“Last year we had her 100th and she had like almost 100 people come to Raleigh to see her, so that’s very special and it shows you how much people love her.”

And what does she have planned for her 102nd year? Just continue to enjoy and celebrate life to the fullest.
