A small part of Ocean Boulevard looks a little different now. Traffic lanes between 9th Avenue North to 14th Avenue North were reworked to better match the rest of the Boulevard.
Those five blocks used to be four lanes, now the section is three lanes with two bike lanes on both sides of the Boulevard.
The re-striping project is part of the city and business owners’ plan to revamp downtown in 90 days.
Under that plan, sidewalk stickers were placed around the Boulevard. The city says more updates are on the way.
“We’ve got some hanging baskets coming,” Myrtle Beach City Spokesperson Mark Kruea said. “I think they’ve got plans for some lighting, and I think we’re still pricing trash cans and recycling containers.”
Earlier this year the city talked about widening the sidewalks, but those plans have since been tabled.
