MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – PALM Charter High School will host its 2nd Annual Run/Walk for the Checkered Flag 5K at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., according to a press release. The course is USATF certified and will include laps around the racetrack and other areas of the complex. The event will start with the schools racecar leading and end with a celebration, prizes, music, and vendors.

The event is fun run, and is not timed, the release said. Participants can run or walk.

“PALM Charter High School is the only motorsports high school in the nation. It is a tuition-free public school which exposes students to the motorsports industry,” states the release. Using electives such as Auto Collision Technology, Motorsport Technology, Welding and Graphic Design students gain hands on real-world experience. Come enjoy one of Myrtle Beach’s great attractions while supporting a local high school.”
