LORIS, SC (WBTW) – Rescue crews responded to the scene of a fatal crash in Loris Thursday afternoon.
Horry County Fire Rescue confirms in a tweet that a vehicle crash at 2049 W Highway 9 killed one person.
According to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pickup truck pulling a camper attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 9 when it collided with a tractor trailer traveling south on the highway. Collins says the driver of the pickup truck was killed.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick identified the driver as Donald Duckles, 88, of Loris. Duckles was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
Collins says no charges will be filed.
