Traffic at the Fred Nash Boulevard and Farrow Parkway intersection is causing some Myrtle Beach drivers frustration.

Some drivers in the area are taking up the left lane when the turn lane is full and speeding into the right lane when the light changes; one resident says she once counted 19 cars backing up the left lane.

City officials tell News13, population growth in the area doesn’t contribute to the traffic as original plans for the Market Common area allowed for more traffic than the roads are currently experiencing.

The City does have proposals for traffic calming measures in some areas of the Market Common, this in an effort to slow drivers speed and encourage drivers to take the correct route rather than cutting through certain areas.

One Myrtle Beach resident told News13, she worked with a City engineer in Janurary to change the timing of the stop lights at the intersection and it did help for a while, but she worries when Tidelands Health opens and nearby residential construction is complete, the issue will only get worse.
