One person is dead following a crash involving a moped and a car late Saturday night.
According to the South Caroling Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before midnight on SC 544 near Joe Mill Trail. The car struck the moped as both were traveling west on 544. The driver of the moped died, they were not wearing a helmet.
The Highway Patrol identified the driver of the car as Juan Carlos Garcia-Olivares.
Garcia-Olivares is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center for Felony DUI resulting in death.
