On Friday, North Myrtle Beach High School celebrated its 14th annual “Christmas Angels” event meant to help children.
The event involves more than 500 students who raise money to help get Christmas wishlist items for children at local elementary schools.
Nearly 200 children are getting some special gifts because of the effort this year.
News13 spoke to an English teacher at the school about what this special event means for everyone involved.
“I want them not to take things for granted, and I think a lot of them, this is fun. But, when those kids come tomorrow, and the grandmothers cry and people get upset and stuff, I think it really shows the high schoolers what they’ve done,” said Cathy Threatt, English teacher and Community Liaison for NMBHS.
The gift shopping continued until 8 p.m. on Friday.
