NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Another Grand Strand city is preparing for the next era of cell phone service.
The city’s planning commission unanimously recommended regulations for small cell technology on public property Tuesday afternoon. Small cells are units that provide cell phone coverage, which can be placed on buildings, utility poles or street lights.
Myrtle Beach and Conway have also discussed how to regulate small cells, which will become more prevalent when service providers switch to 5G coverage.
City council must approve the regulations.
