No interim CEO for Myrtle Beach chamber yet as Brad Dean leaves

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – As the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce says goodbye to its leader Brad Dean, it has no one to take his role yet.

This is the last week for outgoing Dean, who’s the MBACC’s president and CEO. Dean is taking over as the CEO of the Puerto Rico Destination Marketing Organization.

Gov. Henry McMaster honored Dean with the Order of the Palmetto, which is a lifetime achievement award, at the chamber of commerce’s annual meeting Tuesday night.

However, the chair of the MBACC’s board says there’s no interim CEO in place yet and that several leaders will take over in the short-term.

“We’re very conscious of that,” said Carla Schuessler, who’s the chair of the chamber of commerce’s board. “The staff is very capable. We have a very active and capable board and executive committee. So we’re all working together.”

The firm SearchWise is continuing its nationwide search for candidates.

The MBACC’s board hopes to have about 10 candidates by mid-May, with the goal of hiring a new CEO this summer.
