Horry County officials hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday to open a new splash pad.

The play area is more than 700-square-feet and is located at the James R. Frazier Community Center in Bucksport. There is also an interactive trail at the site that includes several stops with activities to get kids moving and thinking.

Betty Gause, the Facility Manager for the community center, says “this project started with James R. Frazier before he passed away, and when the honorable Harold Phillips came aboard with us, he continued that project.”

Harold Phillips, the councilman for Horry County’s 7th district, says the new splash pad will have a big impact on the county. “This is an opportunity for district seven and the people within the county because this is the first one of its kind in the county.”
