Plans are underway to bring a new military-style paintball facility to the Socastee area of Myrtle Beach. The 13.5-acre property sits on Hwy 707 near the 707 Gun Shop.

According to Paul McDaniels, the General Manager of Black Ops Paintball in Myrtle Beach, the new facility will have multiple playing fields, props and sandbags.

McDaniels said their current Black Ops store, which is across from Socastee High School, will move its operations to the new location when it opens.

Horry County Council gave their final approval Tuesday night and granted the rezoning request needed to move forward.

“That piece of property that was rezoned, it will be an additional open space in many ways,” Councilman Cam Crawford, who serves over the Socastee area, said. “This will allow for greater recreational opportunities for people in the greater area.”

Right now there is no official timeline on when the facility will open, but McDaniels said they should have a better idea in the coming weeks.
