MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – Georgetown County officials are reminding residents that they could face criminal charges for trash dumping after several bags of garbage were found at the Murrells Inlet Boat Landing.
A post on the county’s Facebook page shows about 15 bags of trash, several of which were ripped open, dumped next to a bicycle at the boat landing. County officials say they did find mail with a name and address within one of the bags and the person “might be receiving a visit from a Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputy sometime soon.”
Officials did not release the name found in the trash.
Trash dumping is not only illegal, it’s also damaging to the environment and wildlife, according to the post. Recycling center hours are listed on the county’s website.
