A local artist has spent the last two months doing touch-up work on a mural at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
On Monday, the updated mural was officially unveiled to the public.
Artist Tommy Simpson updated the “Whaling Wall” with an added splash of color.
Mural artist Wyland did the original painting 25 years ago.
“With the whale wall being kind of the icing on the cake, so to speak. So, the staff here at the convention center did a lot of cleaning and painting, just getting everything looking nice again, so that, when our visitors come, they will see a beautiful convention center,” said Paul Edwards, the general manager of the convention center.
The Whaling Wall is one of 100 murals Wyland painted around the world.
