Hundreds walked Saturday in support of healthy families in the 2018 March for Babies in Myrtle Beach.
The event started at the Pelicans Stadium and participants walked a three mile circle around Broadway at the Beach.
The event was to support the March of Dimes in the fight for the health of all moms and babies. They work to support mothers at every stage, from preconception to post-delivery, by funding research, programs and education.
Shannon and Jason Coates of Aynor, were walking to support their daughter Raylee who was born prematurely and spent close to two months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at MUSC. They told us “People don’t understand what the NICU does to a family. It’s very stressful. Birth defects and NICU stays are very hard. We want healthy babies and we want healthy mommas.”
The event raised over 74-thousand dollars, a similar event will be held next Saturday in Georgetown.
