Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue plans to hold a citizens fire academy in mid to late February.

The academy will last ten weeks, with one class every week.

“So, that’s when we are planning to start, probably go to the beginning of May and each class will be a little different, a different skill or different thing that we do. I think it will be a great thing,” said Lt. Jonathan Evans, with MBFR.

The idea is that each class will focus on a different skill or element of the job, including things like auto extractions, live burns, driver training, and water rescue.
