MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Even though Friday’s lunar eclipse wasn’t visible in the United States, people in the city celebrated the astronomical event.
It was during the city’s second Full Moon Party in Chapin Memorial Park. It’s a new event that started last month, but took on special meeting for Friday’s blood moon.
Performers from the Conceptual Arts School organize the parties, showing off their acrobatic and juggling talents.
“It’s a little bit different to have so many different variety of entertainment,” said Brandon Yu, a performer from the Conceptual Arts School. “Not just circus, but the music side and the actual, physical art side. It’s pretty cool to have everyone here together.”
Friday’s lunar eclipse will be the longest of the century. It was seen over parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. The so-called blood moon appeared red because of how the sunlight bent around the earth.
The United States will see the next lunar eclipse on January 21, 2019.
