MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A new entertainment event will launch in Myrtle Beach next week.
Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune announced on her Facebook page that city council unanimously approved the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Bonanza.
“This free event will feature live entertainment, variety shows, talent and karaoke contests, DJ performances and food challenges, all part of the Big Screen Party Machine entertainment schedule that includes a jumbo digital board with live emcee and loads of prizes for the winning participants,” the post describes.
Mayor Bethune says the ongoing event – planned for Wednesday and Thursday nights beginning July 4 – will also offer five food trucks, a kid’s activity area and outdoor recreational games for the entire family.
The event begins Wednesday, July 4, and will run from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings through Aug. 30 at the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place between 8th and 9th Avenues North.
Wednesday evenings will focus on fitness, food trucks and fireworks at 10p.m. Thursdays will feature a talent contest with prizes. Every evening of this summer event series will offer a different event schedule so no one evening will be the same, the mayor says.
“We are excited to transform the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion property into a family-friendly entertainment venue this summer that offers locals and visitors alike another reason to visit the Oceanfront Boardwalk District,” said Larry Bond, chairman of the Ocean Walk Task Force, a non-profit volunteer-based organization that envisions bringing more events like this downtown in the future. “One of our goals is to create events in the summer and shoulder-season months that generate new visitors to the area while showcasing the multitude of attractions, dining and retail options we have on display.”
