NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Dozens of celebrities, singers and professional athletes were in North Myrtle Beach on Monday for the 25th Annual Monday After the Masters golf tournament.
The tournament raises money for a number of different charities.
Singer Darius Rucker teed up at Barefoot Resort. Rucker and his bandmates from Hootie and the Blowfish created the annual event.
Thousands turned out to spot their favorite stars. Rocky Connel traveled from Virginia for the tournament, setting his sights on one professional golfer in particular.
“John Daly. To me he’s a character of golf. He’s very colorful, a lot of fun, he enjoys his partying but he’s also, I think a pretty decent golfer,” Connel said.
Others came out to support the various charities served by the event.
“I support St. Judes and I support the Hooties kids. I’m just a charities kind of guy,” spectator Anthony Caridi said.
Despite their reasons for attending, the spectators all shared their love of golf.
“Golf is a challenge for everyone and everyone can play it,” Caridi said.
