A coastal flood warning has expired, but still, watch out for some minor flooding. High tide has already occurred and with strong ESE winds, we saw that onshore flow bringing higher water levels during this morning’s high tide. Some coastal roadways in and around the Cherry Grove area were under water this morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, their tide gauge at Myrtle Beach has risen to 8.65 feet above lower low mean water — that’s the highest level since Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and could be one of the top 5 water levels on record for this point!
As low tide is expected shortly after 2pm Saturday, we’ll see the threat for coastal flooding going down.

Crews in North Myrtle Beach have closed 48th Avenue to deal with a utility issue caused by tidal flooding, according to a post on Twitter from the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department.
Pawleys Island Police shared these pictures of flooding in their area.
The Rosewood area near Socastee saw flooding. Many in that area are still dealing with rebuilding after flooding from Hurricane Florence.
