Military ordnance safely removed from Garden City building site

A military ordnance has been safely removed form a Garden City building site.

The ordnance was removed after being discovered by a swimming pool construction crew on South Waccamaw Drive, according to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Construction crews dug up about a dozen corroded artillery munitions from about the 1950s in the homeowner’s back yard.

Shaw Air Force personnel arrived on Friday to remove them.
