This morning the Myrtle Beach Police Department will host an informational meeting to tell Downtown businesses their traffic and public safety plans for the four-day event.

There will be a traffic pattern set up Downtown and traffic diversion equipment will be deployed, as well as message boards.

Officers with MBPD tell News13, their goal is to keep traffic flowing well Downtown and encourage anyone who isn’t traveling to a Downtown hotel or the festival to use Highway 31 or Grissom Parkway.

Captain Joey Crosby said after every large event, the department does an after-action report and starts to develop an operational plan for the following year.

“It takes a long time to plan for this event, this is not something that we start just a week or two out,”  Crosby said. “This is something that we’ve been planning for over a year now.”

This morning’s meeting starts at 9:30 A.M. at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot.
