MBPD Citizens Police Academy applications open until July 30

The Myrtle Beach Police Department is now accepting applications for its 36th Citizens Police Academy.

The academy runs for 10 weeks and is held twice a year, according to the department’s website. The class meets on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

To attend the academy, you must live in Horry County, be at least 21 years old, have a driver’s license, and undergo a background investigation and a criminal history check. Applicants must also complete at least 15 hours of ride-along time, which includes day shifts, night shifts, and overnight shifts. Applications are available online or in person at the Myrtle Beach Police Department and are due by 5 p.m. on July 30.
