MARION, SC (WBTW) – A Marion man who won $250,000 on a scratch-off lottery ticket says the moments before claiming the prize were torture.

The winner told South Carolina lottery officials the time between scratching the winning ticket and cashing it in was torture.

“I couldn’t sleep,” he said. “I couldn’t stop checking the ticket. I kept making sure it was where I put it. I was worried the whole time the ticket would get lost.”

Now that the hard part is over, the Marion man says he knows exactly what he’s doing with the money.

“I’m paying off the house,” he said.

He won playing the $10 All the Money game. Four top prizes of $250,000 remain in the game, at odds of 1 in 660,000. For selling the claimed ticket, Fuel Express in Moncks Corner received a commission of $2,500.
