GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – Georgetown County officials say a man’s body was discovered inside a home after firefighters extinguished the flames early Tuesday morning.

Assistant Chief Tony Hucks with Georgetown County Fire and EMS confirms firefighters were called to a home on Robin Drive and George Washington Trail around 7 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

The Georgetown City Fire Department assisted the county crews.

The Georgetown County coroner’s office was also called to the scene when it was discovered the man inside the home was deceased. The victim’s name has not be released.

Fire officials have not commented on how the fire started.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and SLED will aid in the investigation.
