LONGS, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police are investigating a shooting that happened at a home in Longs Thursday night.

According to the police report, officers were called to the fire station in Longs for a shooting, but the victim had already been transported to the hospital. Officers went to Grand Strand Medical Center and spoke with the victim who told officers he was at a get together with friends at a home off Highway 905 when he heard a loud “bang.” 

The victim thought someone was lighting firecrackers until he felt a “stinging sensation on his side,” and realized he had been shot. The victim said a friend at the party drove him to the fire station for help, then the driver returned to the party.

Officers went to the home where the shooting reportedly occurred but were unable to locate any shell casings. No suspect information was released but police say the case remains an active investigation.
