GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown County Coroner has identified the man found unresponsive in a river in Georgetown Thursday.

A press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office says a man was found unresponsive in the Black River around noon. Spokesperson Jason Lesley with the sheriff’s office says the preliminary report shows that a fisherman spotted the body and called 911.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson identified the victim as 30-year-old  Cedrick Lawrence of Georgetown. Johnson also stated that Johnson was last seen on June 19, and was reported missing to the sheriff’s office this week.

Investigators don’t believe any foul play was involved in the man’s death and the autopsy revealed no injuries.

According to the coroner the death appears to be an accidental drowning. The investigation is still underway.
