A man died after a crash between a moped and a backhoe in Myrtle Beach.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified the man who died as Timothy Taylor, 47, of Myrtle Beach. Taylor died as a result of his injuries at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to Willard, the crash happened at 3127 Mr. Joe White Avenue around 6:23 a.m. on Tuesday. The crash involved a moped driven by Taylor and a backhoe. The crash is being investigated by the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
Mark Kruea, spokesperson for the City of Myrtle Beach, confirms Taylor was a city employee.
Chasity Pendergrass, a public information specialist with the City of Myrtle Beach, said in an email on Tuesday morning that solid waste service in the city was canceled due to a worker’s injuries. Solid waste crews will resume Tuesday’s route on Wednesday, Wednesday’s route will be serviced on Thursday, and Thursday’s route will be serviced on Friday.
According to a City of Myrtle tweet, Taylor was a 10-year member of the city’s team. Taylor “was on his way to work for the Solid Waste Division when the wreck occurred.”
