Search and rescue crews from Louisiana are in South Carolina providing assistance to first responders.

According to a post on the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal’s Facebook page, crews from Louisiana’s Urban Search and Rescue task forces worked in collaboration with SC Taskforce 6 on Saturday. Crews rescued local first responders, whose high water vehicle “got swept away and flipped over.” Teams also pulled nine goats from flood waters in the Conway area.

Another post on the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal’s Facebook page on Monday says members of the Louisiana Task Force 2 Urban Search and Rescue team and Louisiana Task Force 3 Urban Search and rescue team are on their way home.

The South Carolina State Fire Marshal requested a seven day extension for assistance, according to the post. The Louisiana Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue team and a few Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal deputies will remain in the area.

“We continue to be proud of our teams and the work they do and keep all of the residents affected in S.C. in our thoughts,” states the post. “We also are so thankful of the many messages of gratitude we have received from our local supporters, those who we had some part in helping through this disaster and South Carolinians in general. It’s been our honor to serve you!”
