A local first responder has died.
Edmond Vaitis had worked with the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad since 1989.
The organization said Vaitis was a huge part of their squad.
Instead of flowers, the family has asked donations go to the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad.
“It is with a heavy heart North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad announces the passing of Edmond Vaitis. Ed was a huge part of our squad and a pillar in the community,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Ed has been an active member since 1989. Please keep the Vaitis family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this emotional time.”
