Little River Medical Center doesn’t turn away any patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

A study at Coastal Carolina University surveyed 150 homeless people in Horry County and found two of the main obstacles the homeless face, are transportation and healthcare.

To combat the transportation hurdle, two sociology professors started the Roll Forward program. The initiative donates bikes to shelters which can be loaned out to help the homeless get to job interviews or work.

The study also showed 75 percent of those studied said Little River Medical Center was an invaluable resource in helping them address their physical needs.

Some of the services offered include an HIV/AIDS department, snap benefits, marketplace insurance, vision and dental care.
