LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (WBTW) – An 84-year-old Little River woman died in a two-vehicle crash involving a garbage truck on Highway 90.
Mary Campbell was taken on Tuesday to the Grand Strand Medical Center where she died of multiple traumatic injuries, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Campbell was leaving the Horry County Recycling Center at 11145 Highway 90 when she pulled out in front of a garbage truck, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins. The crash happened at 9:07 a.m. on Tuesday.
Highway 90 was closed while crews worked to clear the scene. Extraction was needed to free the Campbell from the car. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Collins.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured.
No charges are expected, according to Trooper Collins.
