MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A lawsuit claiming the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce gave millions of dollars in taxpayer cash to businesses started by its current and former employees has been dismissed.
According to the Horry County Public Index, the lawsuit was dismissed on Wednesday.
The lawsuit was filed by Karon Mitchell in April 2018, and claimed that the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce “has consistently redirected taxpayer funds” to Crony Companies. Court documents allege the Crony Companies receive taxpayer money for “unsubstantiated goods and services at a mark-up.”
