NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The big firework display in the city on the Fourth of July was near the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier.

North Myrtle Beach police were directing traffic around the Cherry Grove area. Parking was also not allowed on the median of North Ocean Boulevard.

Despite a passing shower right after the show started and a lot of congestion on the Cherry Grove streets, there were plenty of people excited to see the fireworks right on the beach.

“The fireworks were so great. This is my first time in Myrtle Beach for the Fourth of July, so I’m really excited,” said Mia Billups.

“We all came together, like five families, and we had a wonderful time,” said Desiree LeGrand.

Some dressed up in USA gear with neon jewelry made of glow sticks.

“It’s an awesome experience. All the fireworks up and down on the beach, the patriotism, the Salute from the Shore, everything,” said Ray Zepernick.

Police also used a reverse traffic pattern to help traffic move safely and quickly from Cherry Grove.
