Horry County to continue mosquito spraying over coming days

Horry County crews will continue mosquito spraying efforts over the coming days.

According to a press release from Horry County, previously scheduled areas will be sprayed tonight, weather permitting, including Fairview Highway, Carolina Road, Green Sea Road, Hwy 430, Hwy 76, and the Alma Road areas.

“Please note, the weather forecast for Friday and Saturday include a high chance of rain, which would preclude spraying on those dates,” the release says. Spraying efforts will continue of Monday with spraying of the Bucksport and Little River areas and through the week, covering  all unincorporated areas of Horry County.”

Ground spraying will continue in the mornings and evening throughout the county. Visit  stormwater.horrycounty.org for updated schedules.

“The chemicals used for mosquito control spraying are approved by the EPA and pose minimal risk to humans or animals,” states the release. “Individuals with asthma or other respiratory illness may wish to stay indoors and close windows and doors during spraying.  In addition, homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.”

“To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to contact Horry County Stormwater to identify the location of their colonies,” the release also says.
