Students at an Horry County school spent Friday geo-locating grave sites to help people look up gravestones.
The computer science majors from the Academy for Arts, Science, and Technology in Myrtle Beach met at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
They took pictures and recorded information to add to the web app for the City of Myrtle Beach.
The app will allow visitors to search for grave sites, view headstones, and locate graves.
“We don’t know yet what the future will hold applying GIS to both government, to academic research, and in the commercial business,” said Blake Vaught, a computer science teacher at the school.
