WBTW News13 found Horry County students at Socastee High School on Monday helping their peers in the midst of flooding.
They gathered to make lunch for students who depend on at least one good meal a day during the school week and volunteers also made sure their parents had lunch.
A post on Socastee Elementary School’s Facebook page said many children in the community depend on school not only for an education but for a daily meal.
“Now’s the time to help our community, our friends, our classmates, everything,” says Iliirina Lekani, a student at Socastee High School. “So, everybody chipped in and just helped just the littlest bit with money, hot dogs, foods, drinks, all kinds of snacks, and with everyone coming together, we ended up getting a lot of food.”
