CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Students in Horry County will not have to make up the fourth missed school day caused by bad weather.

A press release from Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier confirms the school board waived the fourth make-up day for students. Horry County schools were out of class Sept. 11 and Jan. 3-5 for inclement weather. Three of those days have been made-up by students and staff.

  • October 9, 2017 (make-up for September 11, 2017)
  • January 16, 2018 (make-up for January 3, 2018)
  • February 19, 2018 (make-up for January 4, 2018)

“Once those three days have been made-up, the local school board may waive up to three additional days. Recently, the Horry County School Board of Education voted to waive the fourth make-up day for students,” the release states.

If more than six days are missed, the State School Board of Education may waive up to three more additional days. Absences beyond nine days due to inclement weather requires legislative approval for waiver.
