Due to the threat of river flooding along with road closures, Horry County Schools have decided to close all schools for the next week, September 24-28.
In an a press release the district says several of its schools will remain available as shelters to support families dislocated by the flooding.
“I am proud of our amazing students, staff, and school volunteers who have stepped up and shown how a true community comes together to help and support their neighbors in a time of need.” said Superintendent Dr. Rick Maxey in a statement.
Staff will tentatively be asked to return to work on Friday.
