MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County is getting ready for the Memorial Day weekend bikefest.
The county’s bikefest task force briefly met at the Myrtle Beach International Airport’s general aviation terminal Tuesday afternoon to recap some of the plans for law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency operations and public outreach. Myrtle Beach police say at last count, 473 in-state and out-of-state officers are scheduled to work during Memorial Day weekend.
While that’s slightly fewer than last year, Horry County says most of its operation plan will stay the same.
“We look at it from a standpoint of overall coordination and working to make sure all the municipalities are all working together,” said county emergency management director Randy Webster. “So really, it doesn’t matter. We’re planning for the same as we have been since we started.”
Myrtle Beach police will hold a large briefing for outside law enforcement agencies at the city’s convention center on Thursday, May 23.
