CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – An Horry County leader has accepted a job with the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
Justin Powell, who currently serves as an assistant county administrator for Horry County, will take a job as SCDOT’s Deputy Secretary for Finance and Administration, according to a press release from SCDOT. Powell has been managing the county’s administration division since May 2015.
“Mr. Powell has a proven track record of success and I have every confidence that he will be able to make a positive difference here at the agency,” said Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall.
Powell has previous experience as chief financial officer for Dorchester County, budget analyst for the City of Greenville, a private sector position with IBM Consulting Services, and as a budget analyst for Fairfax County, Virginia.
Powell will begin work with the SCDOT at the end of April.
According to the county’s website, Powell is currently the assistant county administrator over county administration. The two other assistant county administrators are over infrastructure/regulation and public safety.
According to Kelly Moore, with Horry County, Powell’s last day with the county is April 12.
