An Horry Georgetown Technical College professor is helping a man from Morocco identify meteorites.
Dr. Jonathan Craig teaches astronomy and is an expert in geological materials from space.
He’s also in communication with Johnson Space Center experts.
“It is generally believed that most meteorites come from the asteroid belt,” said Dr. Craig. “So, based on that, that’s also somewhat problematic because the asteroids themselves have an extremely large classification.”
Dr. Craig also says you don’t know how valuable your meteorite is until it is classified.
