CAROLINA FOREST, S.C. (WBTW) — One person died after being struck by a car on Hwy. 501 near Carolina Forest Blvd. Friday night, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Nancy Cueto, 77, of Myrtle Beach was trying to cross the street around 8:50 p.m. when she was struck by a car, according to Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

A 2013 GMC SUV was traveling south on U.S. 501 when the vehicle struck, Cueto, a pedestrian in the roadway, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones.

Horry County Police Department, South Carolina Highway Patrol and Horry County Fire Rescue were on scene to help direct traffic. Traffic cleared around 10:45 p.m. and is flowing again.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.

A separate crash happened on Hwy 501 in the same area Friday morning that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old.
