Horry County police are investigating an incident that happened at the Myrtle Beach International Airport involving vehicle thefts from a gated rental car parking lot.
News13 was on airport grounds on Friday and saw crews repairing the fence surrounding the Avis rental car lot.Three cement bricks were placed near the repaired fence, to prevent anyone from attempting to drive through.
Mikayla Moskov, the Horry County Police spokesperson confirmed there is an active investigation with the Myrtle Beach International Airport but was unable to provide any details or reports.
Aiport police officers were also able to confirm the investigation, but gave no further information.
An airport taxi driver for 19 years, Kim Watford says recent events have made other drivers feel uneasy.
“It’s scary, we’re out here sometimes out here early in the morning and someone is coming out here and doing bad things.. that’s not good” said Watford. “Being a female driver is sometimes its scary enough in itself.”
News13 placed several calls to the airport spokesperson with no answer.
