According to the City of Myrtle Beach, Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority is creating contingency plans in case flooding causes any water quality issues.
In a Facebook post the city says no action is being taken, that GSWSA is putting plans in place if there are issues at the Myrtle Beach Water Treatment Plant or any release from Santee Cooper’s ash ponds near Conway.
If there was a temporary shutdown, residents will be required to reduce water use by half to keep the systems working. In this case residents are urged to only use water for essential needs and stop all outdoor water use.
