GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – A Georgetown man was sentenced to 17 years for trafficking heroin and cocaine.
Newitt Rodney Walker, 32, of Georgetown, pleaded guilty to first-offense trafficking in heroin four-to-14 grams and first-offense possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, according to W. Keith Powell, the assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case.
Judge Steven H. John of the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office sentenced Walker to 17 years for the heroin charge and 15 years for the cocaine base charge, and the sentences will run concurrently.
Walker had faced a maximum of 25 years in prison for the heroin charge and 15 years for the cocaine base charge.
Agents with the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle Walker was driving on Nov. 30, 2017, and found the drugs inside the vehicle, according to a report.
