Instead of a typical ribbon cutting, the new City of Georgetown Fire Station #2 in Maryville hosted an “Uncoupling Ceremony” on Saturday.

This is a longtime firehouse tradition. The Georgetown Fire Chief, Charlie Cribbwill uncoupled the fire hoses to mark the station’s grand opening.

After the ceremony an open house was held to tour the new station.

The 8,200 square foot fire station has two large bays with plenty of room for the firetrucks and equipment. The station also comes equipped with a large day space for relaxation, a large up-to-date kitchen, four dorm rooms and a small gym, to accommodate firefighter’s 24-48 hour shifts.

The station was designed and built by Coastal Structures and Tych & Walker Architects, who were also in attendance for the ceremony
